Dolly good fun!!

Finally it has arrived, a very realistic, reborn doll.
I am going to use her as a model for all my baby creations. The size is newborn so very small clothes will fit her.
I already took some pictures with a few of my designs, enjoy (I hope)
The first three pictures are made by the wonderful artist Maria Grover from BitsyBundles who manages to make vinyl look like a real (and I mean REAL) baby skin!

Update Olympics, working in London.

Finally we had the meeting on the 14th of June concearning information and instructions for our work in London during the Olympics.

We were given a folder with all kinds of information and were instructed by three employees from GreaterAnglia, led by Victor Fromm. (Unfortunately I forgot the names of both ladies, I do apologize, if you should read this and know who they are, by accident,  please let me know)

We were told on wich stations we will be working  (Southend Airport, Harwich International, Stansted Airport) where they are situated and how they look like, and we were taken through safety procedures and other practical issues.

It was quite intense because our native tongue isn't English and Victor can talk pretty quick.
For me it was not that hard; I'm used to James Martin from Saturday Kitchen Live and he talks five quarters in an hour, as we say overhere, with a slight Yorkshire accent.
So we had to be very alert. We were given a book, En Route, wich is like the Holy Bible during the Olympics. It has the information about everything you want to know during the Olympics. How to travel, where sporters compete, maps and a lot more.

     

                             

They gave us a pin (brooch) so everybody can see we belong to the One Team Transport. We are supposed to wear a  Magenta tabbard, but this was not available yet.

We also were given a cord for our ID Card.

After the presentation from the Brits it was time for practical information during our stay. Where do we sleep, do we get accescards for transport, what about our laundry (for our uniforms)

Well, we (all 50 of us) are divided between two hotels; Hotel st. Giles, Bedford Avenue and Premier Inn, Kings Cross.

I do not know wich of the two I am staying, but both are nicely situated in the centre of London.

Because the rooms aren't too big for two persons to stay in, we all inhabit the room alone. We were all very happy to hear this, since we are away from home for nearly three weeks. It is nice to have some alone time once and a while.

When do we leave? We leave on the 25th of July and have some more instructions at a Railway Learning Centre.

We will be returning homewards (we do not want to think about this yet, but there you are) on the 13th of August. and will be travelling from London untill Brussels with the same train as the Dutch Olympic Team!

What are we going to do overseas?

-Renting out OV  bicycles(short for Openbaar, (Public) vervoer (Transport)Special bicycles you normally rent at stations in the Netherlands. Lovation; Orange Campsite.

-We will be giving all kinds of information in our national supporters home the Holland Heineken House (HHH

-We assist our GreaterAnglia/Abellio colleagues on the stations I referred to earlier.

-We accompany Orange Fans in (espacially festive) doubledecker buses from station to HHH.

-We give assistance to our colleagues in trains.

After an intensive, fun, informative, positive (yes, yes, thank you) day, it was ended with a bit of a bite to eat and drink, followed by a  buffet of desserts (no punishement there)

 

Warm weather, cool attic

Before I make some coffee and go and sit in the sun, I've taken a little time to update my blog. I'm in my attic room (where my work room is).
Normally it is a very hot place when it is very sunny but i've got a little airco and this helps to keep me cool!
The weather is warm and sunny, and I have three more days off from work. Bliss!!

Guess what! I have  finished the pattern of a birdhouse. It needs some more pictures but is already available in my webshop!! When you order I will strive to email you the pattern in a PDF file within 24-48 hours!

It's been a while...

But now I'm posting a little something.

I have had some news about the Olympics; I'll be in London from Juli 25th untill
August 13th.
But still know nothing about where we are staying or what we will be doing exactly.
And we are all anxious to know some more!!

I have been working on a pattern  in (English) for my pincushions. And it is finished!
And available in my shop. I also have been busy making little DIY items for when I go to a craft market. They are little bags with a pattern of a pincushion, a little ball of fiberfill and paper bobbins with the neccesary yarn in it. They are not quite finished so I don't have pictures yet, but only some loose photos.

This will be on the front of the (white paper) bag. It says PieterPeuter (which is my Dutch webshop) crochet pattern Pincushion Cathy.

Tomorrow morning my two nieces will join me at home and we will be doing some crocheting together. They love being creative too. For luch I have promised to make "poffertjes", wich look a lot like blini's and taste like pancakes. They are baked in a special pan, or a sort of waffle iron (like I have) You put butter and powdered sugar on it and then,mmmmmyammmm!!

The Dutch readers know what I'm talking about, but all the other nationalities don't.

Quite quiet..

Nothing much to post, I have been working these past few days and not doing anything much else.
Today I have the day off and I am clearing up my house. The usual things. The livingroom is tidy again and I've sorted out my flowers. I love ranuncles but they drooped down after a couple of days. So I snipped them short and made (together with some gerbera) a feature out of them on my coffeetable.

I also finished two new cushions for my sofa last week. I nearly forgot about that.

Nice stickers and a magnet with her wonderful Doodly Birds on it.. Little treasures!

On the crochet front nothing big either. Altough I made two pincushions.
They are similar to the Key Cover pattern, but I adapted it slightly bigger.

I have been busy.

So I've been busy making Easter branches. I've collected a few branches, let them dry out a week or two. Then I gave them two coats of (chalk) paint and stuck them in a vase.
I crocheted a veeeery long garland and decorated the branches. I thought it still was very bare, so I made BIG flowers to dangle from the branches as well and they look great (If I do say so myself)

No more news on the Olympic front unfortunately. I am so eager to have more information, but nothing of it yet.

But  there is news on the crochet front.
I have made also two new Key Covers and three Birdhouses. This all for my shop.
People actually ask me to make more, so for now it is in stock.

Today I have the day off, but I am working the following days. I'm planning to bake cupcakes for work (since tomorrow is a bit of a festive day) and decorate them with whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed yellow and green meringue.  I will post pictures when I have finished them.

...................................It is now two days later and I totally forgot to make pictures of the finished meringues. I can tell you everybody enjoyed them immensely though.
